Nomad life, trains, airports, soundchecks, hotel rooms… I’ve learned how to live in the movement.
Artist’s life navigates between worlds: one of creation, mainly at home or in the studio, and one of sharing, on the road and on stage.
I’m currently touring in France for a series of 27 concerts across the country.
Every night feels different, and that’s what I love the most about it.
I have two formulas, two ways to express emotions on stage.
First one is built for large venues: festivals, arenas, places where tens of thousands of people gather. In those shows, rhythm becomes essential.
I’ve always counted on my childhood friend, the talented drummer Veeko, to share stage with me. He plays with emotion, precision, sincerity, and charisma. A true artist.
With Veeko we adapted my songs in a modern and dynamic way, blending acoustic and electronic energy so people can jump, move, and express themselves.
This setup is ambitious: more than forty of us on the road. Sound engineers, light designers, video operators, and an entire technical crew. All working to create a show where sound, light, and movement interact. It’s an explosion of rhythm and emotion.
The second formula is intimate. It is the one I come from.
Here I’m alone on stage. Only the piano and me.
Lights are mysterious, sound is round and warm.
Before walking on stage I write all my songs on a piece of paper, but I never follow the order. I improvise transitions, stretch time, slow the movement, accelerate when I feel the pulse of the audience. I borrow discipline from classical interpretation, freedom from jazz improvisation, and try to find my own signature.
On this tour, after every show, I stay to meet everyone who waited and pre-ordered my next album. It can last for hours. You bring stories, drawings, memories. You tell me what the music means to you.
I love sharing those moments with you, because we feel connected. Each night ends differently and stays with me for a while.
By the way there is also a third formula: the one for heroic shows which involve a crazy number of people such as Bercy, Northern Lights w/ Cercle, Burning Man.
Be focus because I’ll announce one very unique in the upcoming weeks, and I’ll need your full support because this one is massive and crazy. Can’t wait.
Sincerely,
Sofiane
