I want to step away from the thread of these letters for a moment to pay tribute to my friend, Prince Waly.
Some people carry a light that should never disappear, because it shows us a way forward. A way of being. A way of being human.
Moussa was moved by love in everything he did. Love for the people closest to him, and love for others.
There was never bitterness in him.
He fought with incredible strength against a rare cancer of the thymus that was affecting his voice. And through it all, he kept creating. His last album, Moussa, is a diamond.
Faced with the injustice of illness, he answered with love. Every day. With every person he met along the way.
He has always been an example to me.
He never let the role of being an artist become more important than the person he truly was. His sincerity, his kindness, his humanity always came first.
Moussa was aligned in his heart and in his actions.
I miss him so much.
I had the chance to meet him seven years ago, when he agreed to appear in the video for La Havane.
From the beginning, our friendship was pure and deep. I imagined it stretching across decades.
I will carry the Prince with me.
Every time I play La Havane, Moussa will be in my heart.
I was so proud to have him with us at the Opéra Garnier, alongside his partner Julia. The love they share is something rare and beautiful to witness.
I am heartbroken.
But we will keep his light alive.
We did not only lose a great artist.
We lost someone who showed us what it means to be a beautiful human being.
To my friend, for life. 🤲🏽❤️
Sincerely,
Sofiane Pamart
