Piano Scene #14: Your Inner World

Losing someone dear does not make them disappear. It transforms the way they continue to exist within us.

With time, I came to understand that some people never truly leave us. They stop being visible, but they continue to exist elsewhere, in a different form of presence.
In my repertoire, some pieces were born from this feeling.

Nara.

Vera.

Music that helped me move through grief, not by denying it, but by giving it a form that can be carried. A form that allows life to continue.

When I compose for someone who is no longer here, I do not think about absence.
I think about what remains. About their inner world. About the calm, the light, the depth they carried within them.

Losing a loved one is so painful. Sometimes I tell myself that I would rather not grow attached again, because the loss of someone you love so deeply can hurt unbearably.
Fortunately, music consoles. It gives back the desire to love.

On my next album, one piece will be titled Your Inner World.

It is a tribute. But more than that, it is a way to keep this person close to me forever.
I focused on the idea that the inner world of someone we love does not disappear with them. It continues to exist, peaceful, almost angelic, sheltered from time.

Playing the piano has always been, for me, a way of addressing the invisible. A conversation with those who are no longer physically present, but who continue to live through emotion, memory, and vibration.

On stage, in the silence between two notes, I sometimes feel them very close. As if music opens a space where life and death no longer oppose each other. A space where we can still meet.

If some pieces of music accompany you through moments of loss, then they have fulfilled their purpose. They become a safe place, a refuge.

I like to believe that as long as music exists, nothing ever truly disappears.
