One of the rituals I cherish in December is looking back.
It is the moment when I gain perspective on the year that has just passed.
I experience it as a month of gratitude, a time to revisit the moments that truly mattered.
Among the defining moments of 2025, there is one I return to often.
A deeply symbolic day.
The day France made me a Knight.
I was awarded the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, an honor that recognizes artists and cultural figures who contribute to the influence of art, culture, and creation in France and beyond.
During the ceremony, which took place in May, I felt a mix of pride and vertigo.
Not because of the medal itself, but because of everything that had led me to that moment.
This honor was doubled that day.
I was not the only one being celebrated.
My manager, Guillaume Héritier, was also knighted.
It felt like stepping into a novel.
We became Knights together, as if our intertwined destinies, devoted to serving and fighting for the art we believe in, were finally being recognized by our Nation.
Imagine receiving one of the most noble distinctions alongside your closest friend.
That day left a deep mark on me.
It stayed with me long after the celebration ended.
And as it often happens, when an emotion settles so deeply within me, it becomes music.
This ceremony inspired a new piece on my fourth album, a waltz.
Elegant, refined, slightly nostalgic, with an epic, almost dramatic introduction.
The melody turns as if in a ballroom, lit by grand chandeliers.
The piece is both nostalgic and dance-like, marked by a subtle call-and-response.
I have a feeling you will speak to me about it when it is released.
I am particularly proud of this composition.
It will be called: The Knight Ceremony.
