The piano was already part of my life. I went to it before school, and I found it again after. It was there when I woke up, and when I came home. Like a playground, like a refuge.
With it, my imagination came alive. Notes became colors, landscapes, actions, characters. The piano painted the scenes I was carrying inside.
I believe that, as children, we know everything. Then, often, we lose our way. We try to become adults, to fit in, to understand. And one day, if we are lucky enough, we find the child who remained, the one who knows exactly who we truly want to be, the one we must listen to.
When I give too much space to doubt, when I get lost in endless thinking, I question the child I was. The child I still carry inside.
He does not doubt. He points the way. He shows what needs to be expressed.
I think what binds me most deeply to the piano is that it has been with me my entire life. By my side, silent and faithful. It reminds me of the child I was, and of the one I still am when I play true.
I had a happy childhood because I was surrounded by love.
It is a powerful foundation to grow, to reveal one’s abilities.
Love gave me the freedom to dream big. To believe without limits.
My first audience was my family.
For this fourth album, that child was a guiding thread.
When I doubted, when I wondered if I was taking the right direction, I came back to him. To his simple convictions, his instinctive relationship with music, his overflowing imagination.
This album was not written to become someone else.
It was written to remain faithful to who I have always been.
Sincerely,
Sofiane
